We headed out to LA for a few client visits and to get some of what I like to call “Big City Energy.” Living in a small town in the South has its perks, but every once in awhile I need a quick injection of inspiration and blue sky thinking with like minded business folk.
Homies I stayed with a friend and client in their den because 1. I’m a small business owner and 2. I have Fortune 50 taste.
One day, when I’m successful in terms in dollah bills, I would stay…
…at The Line because this hotel knows design and always has the best views of town.
…in Venice Beach at The Rose Hotel because I am UH-BSESSED with Venice Beach.
Pretty sure this is obvious, but In and Out Burger is a MUST. Especially the one just outside of LAX so you can watch the planes come and go.
Mexican food in a cafe that belongs in a movie. El Coyote has been serving up family style Mexican food since 1931 - classic.
Yes chicken and waffles is a Southern thing. Yes I live in the South. But gosh darn it the spiced pecan waffles and fried chick at Sweet Chick was the only marathon I’ll ever partake it.
If you haven’t been to Cha Cha Chicken you aren’t living.
Austin had only ever been to the touristy spots in LA, so we drove to Marina del Rey and parked the car. We walked the Venice Boardwalk up to the skate park then back down through the canals. Peeking at the gardens and inside some of the houses is my favorite thing to do in this neighborhood.
Hike Runyon Canyon and do the WHOLE thing. It’s worth the views (and the sweat).
Hop on the Gametime app to see if you can catch a sporting event or concert last minute. We got Eric Church tickets at the Staples Center for $23 about 4 hours before it started. So worth it.
The original Farmer’s Market at The Grove was a huge surprise. I did NOT expect to find this in LA but I’m so glad we popped in for a snack and some beers.
Los Angeles is always so much fun to visit - the food, the vibe, the beach. I really do love it there. But after a chaotic greeting at LAX and three days of constant traffic, I know I belong back East.
